Credit Repair Tips
Credit repair works. The credit bureaus want you
to believe that there is no way to remove bad credit
from your report. The truth is that you can get items removed from
your credit whether they are actually yours or not. The fair credit reporting act says that the bureaus
cannot have any incorrect information on your report. This means that they have to prove that the
information is correct and within 30 days of the
inquiry. This is why you should always have them verify any
derogatory items on your credit because there is the
possibility that the creditor may not get the proof
back to them
within this time frame or they may have spelled your
name incorrectly etc. and if they do not have error
free information the bureaus MUST remove the derogatory
credit. Here are some other steps to having good credit. Since you will have difficulty
getting additional cards you should keep at least one
account open,but close all the rest.
It has been estimated that up to 60%
of all credit reports have errors in them. If you
find that your credit report shows something that
is not true, you need to write to them with all
the details. Be sure to use certified mail so that
you can keep track of when and who you wrote to at
the credit bureau's. You should also request that the credit bureau sends
a corrected report to anyone who requested
a report on you in the last 6 months. Add any positive credit that is not showing in
the reports This might be additional
information about a repayment of a loan, good
credit you have with companies that do not
report to the credit bureau etc. Remember that all Creditors want is to collect
their money so most creditors will work
with you to get a new lower repayment schedule
but you must stick to the plan. After 7 years, most items will be dropped except
for bankruptcies or foreclosures as they can take
up to 10 years. As each year
passes, more and more bad items will drop off and
more and more good items will be included. Follow these steps and you will find that your
credit looks better and your credit scores will
